What do I get and what's it going to cost?
After initial consultation, we will meet with you one to three times. At these visits, we will discuss birth preferences and a written birth plan. We will talk about things like exercise and being prepared emotionally for the birth and what role your doula will have in your birth. This is also a time to get to know one another and practice comfort techniques such as breathing, positional changes, and massage techniques. We will we available for phone consultations, and email correspondence. We agree to be on call for four weeks, 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your due date. While on call we will make it our goal not to travel more than one hour from the hospital where you plan to deliver.
Our goal is to get to you within one hour from the time you call or what is arranged ahead of time in relationship to the distance to your hospital of choice. We will either come to your home or meet you at the hospital. We will remain with you throughout your labor and delivery, and up to two hours after the birth of your baby as you are recovering. We will stay with you during labor providing comfort measures, relaxation techniques and emotional support. We encourage your partner's participation at their comfort level. In case of an emergency, we will provide a back up doula.
We will make a postpartum visit within 1-5 days either at the hospital or your home. If you feel you would like another visit we will make one within the next two weeks. During these visits we will discuss your birth experience, baby care basics, breastfeeding and any other non medical concerns you may have.
* All of our doulas are available for interviews.
*An in-home interview can be scheduled.
* Your doula will discuss what a birth doula does and does not do and answer any questions you may have regarding our services.
