Today, as I was hanging clothes on the line, I was watching the flurry of activity at my beehive. Those bees sure are active, flying in and out of the hive! I was thinking who taught "my" bees what to do? How do they know? Well, of course no one taught them what they need to know. They were created knowing what to do! Just as the bees, our bodies know what to do when we give birth. Our bodies were created to know what to do. If women are given the opportunity to labor on her own, her body naturally does what needs to be done to bring forth her child. Hospitals, doctors and technology are all good, and at times are necessary. I am glad that they are available for when needed. But too often they are overused in labor and birth.
“If you know that you are pregnant & if you know when you conceived your baby and you think that everything’s okay, doctors can probably do nothing for you. Women need to realize that the role of medicine in pregnancy is very limited…I think that’s what we have to explain to women. They have to realize that doctors have very limited power.” –Michel Odent
